On The Boardwalk Mini Album by Sandy Windsor

Heading to the beach this summer? Check out this great mini-album created by Designer Sandy Windsor using the new Graphic 45 On the Boardwalk collection. Sandy's thoughts and design inspiration are quoted below each picture.

"I used an inexpensive child's board book to create my mini Boardwalk full of pages to capture fun memories....I could easily fill this mini with beach pix, vintage photos. or just fun family snapshots...still not sure which I will choose. I covered the book with a fun filled paper with cheerful photos and colors. The title is just one of the fun borders that is a part of this pack. I used some of the vintage photo tags to embellish the top of a larger interior tag and added some Prima flowers and a fun shell to the cover."

"Check out this fantastically fun paper....I could not bring myself to add more that some eyelash yarn.......lots of room for photos here....I may not add much at all...could not bear to cover up those 3 handsome gents in the corner!"

"Here I have added an envelope with a brad and floss closure...the envelope is cut from Plantin...there are more photo mats hiding inside. The frames are covered with more paper from the stack...and those fun tickets....don't for get to click to enlarge the photos...they are actually a border on one of the papers...I love the look of them!!!!"

"Here is a view of the envelope open with the additional photo mats....oh and did I say WOW....I just adore this beautiful orange lace ribbon by Prima!"

"I used sandpaper to created my pocket on this page....gotta love that bathing beauty tag not to mention the other ladies hanging out on the beach...I used another of the border pieces along the side of the page to add a title. the the top of the page you can see the back of an old clip on earring...I will use it to hold a photo."

"These pages have lots of room for photos or journaling....I have to share the link I used for this fabulous envelope page...check out this super fun tutorial by Laura from Following The Paper Trail The shell was cut with my Ocean of Words cart and opens...you will see that soon....."

"A pic of the shell opened up...don't know if you can see it in the pic but the two inside pages have been embossed with my Cuttlebug. The tags from the envelope page have some fiber and I added a shell to the smaller of the two...the post card is cut from one of the papers...it is accented with a paperclip with some buttons glued to the top."

"The last 2 pages are covered in fantastic designs....I used my Mickey and Friends cart to cut eh film frames, added some more of the tags from the stack and a bright Prima with a starfish bling as a center."

"One last shot of the the fun, fun tags from the 1st page."

What a fantastic mini-album! For more detail of this mini-album and to see more of Sandy's work, be sure to check out her blog: Details by Sandy.

Design Team Work, Spring Break and more!

Our first design team has been busy with all the great new products! I'm impressed by their talent and feel very lucky to have such a great group of ladies designing for the store! Their work is being posted in the Project Ideas category first before I show it off on the blog. Also, be sure to check their blogs (links on the right under Design Team Blogs) for more of their work!

Check out these great cards created by Designer Leah Schaeffer using the wonderful, Limited Edition Bo Bunny Jazmyne collection!

Leah distressed the edges which can be done with an edge distressing tool or just with a pair of scissors.
Next she stamped with Bo Bunny Flourish Acrylic Stamps in Aged Mahogany distress ink (and did a bit of faux stitching with a brown marker). She used a small circle punch to punch out the small white flowers and then popped the Jazmyne Wellspring to give some dimension. From a scrap of the Jazmyne Wellspring, she hand cut the center of another flower and popped that with dimensional foam and tied a small bow with embroidery floss.

Leah stamped over the Jazmyne Symmetry with the Bo Bunny Flourish stamp set and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. She also inked the edges of the paper with a brown ink. For the flowers, she punched a few circles from Jazmyne Mist and layered those, popping the smaller circles with dimensional foam and distressing the edges. She used just a few punches from a Martha Stewart leaf punch for an accent.

This card is a fun combination of the other two. The part that was a new experience for Leah was stamping across glitter paper... the glitter part did not hold the ink and because distress ink dries more slowly, she just wiped off the ink and it left only part of the stamped image showing! She loves how that turned out! She used a large circle punch to show the flower on the background paper. Cut another flower to layer on top and used brads for the flower center.

Wow, Leah! These are great cards and what a fun way to use stamps! Thanks so much!

Spring Break - Don't forget we are now closed for Spring Break. You can still place your orders online and shipping will resume on March 24. I hope to create a mini-album of our vacation to display on the blog when we return - after the shipping is all caught up, of course!

We've extended the deadline on the Easter Pinecone Press drawing. Be sure to leave a comment (to that post) and you may win some fun Easter papers and die-cuts from Pinecone Press! We'll have the drawing when we re-open on March 24!

Sketch Challenge at SOUS

Have you seen this weeks sketch challenge over at StuckOnUSketches? I just love what the ladies did with all the same sheets of paper and not just because it was donated by yours truly! :o)

Generations Crafting donated a few sheets of paper from the Basic Grey Sugar Rush collection to each designer. I absolutely love seeing how differently sketches and paper can be used and I can't wait to have a challenge of my own!

Here are the papers donated to the SOUS designers:

I did copy some of the ideas from Pinecone Press, but modified them slightly to make these cards my own!
